Welcome to Jay.org

Welcome to the personal home page of Jay Gustafson, and family.

Professional Bio:
As General Manager/Sr. IT Consultant of First Mile Broadband and a diversity of technology companies, I offer 18 years of IT experience with a wide range of complex network and server systems. During that time, I have earned a track record for sourcing, identifying, and leveraging emerging technologies and translating client vision into cutting-edge technical solutions. Developing/implementing technology infrastructures and networks, and providing seamless services to thousands of end users has been typical of my professional performance.

On a personal note:
Having the opportunity to see many parts of this world we live in, I have come to see Earth as one unified planet which, sadly, we divide by drawing artificial borders and treating one another as foreigners. Throughout human history we have been drawing borders, fighting wars over those borders, exploiting others for natural resources, or creating laws to keep wealth and job opportunities within our own borders. In the grand scheme of things all humans are very similar (more than 99.9% by DNA standards), and yet we look across our borders and treat each other almost as if we were completely different species. I have seen children [less than 6 years old] digging through garbage cans for food to eat, homeless, and fending for themselves. Across the border in the "developed world" this would be considered completely unacceptable, and these children would be cared for in some way. However, in the "developing countries" we seem to accept this as an unfortunate fact of life. To me, this is unacceptable. One day I hope more people will share my view of the world, so that all humans will be treated as equals, with equal opportunities to a good education, and at least a chance in life. When that day comes I believe humanity as whole will make giant leaps forward.
